Michael Jay Feinstein born 7 September 1956 is an American singer, pianist, music revival movement, and an interpreter of, and anthropologist and archivist of the repertoire is known as the Great American Songbook. Feinstein was born in Columbus, Ohio, son of Florence Mazie an amateur tap dancer, and Edward Feinstein, a sales manager for Sara Lee Corporation and a former amateur singer. As his mother saw no problem with her son's method, she took him out of the experience and allowed him to enjoy the music their own way. Feinstein recently completed a six-part Warner Home Video series for television that shows the history of American popular song up to 1960. Feinstein is the artistic director of the Caramel Performing Arts Center, which is under construction in Caramel, IN.
