
Glacier National Park is located in the U.S. state of Montana, which borders the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. The park covers over one million acres (4000 km2) and includes parts of two mountain ranges , over 130 named lakes, more than 1000 different species of plants and hundreds of animal species. The area was Glacier National Park was first inhabited by Indians and by the arrival of European explorers, was dominated by the Blackfoot in the east and the Flathead in the western regions. Shortly after the establishment of the park 11 1910 May, a number of hotels and lodges built by the Great Northern Railway.

Glacier is far from big cities and the nearest airport is in Kalispell, Montana, southwest of the park. Amtrak trains stop at East and West Glacier. A fleet of restored 1930 White Motor Company, coaches, called Red Jammers, offers tours to all major roads in the park. The drivers of the buses are called "jammers".
